How It Works 

When BIOPROTECT™ RTU or BIOPROTECT™ 500 are applied to a surface or incorporated into a material, BIOPROTECT™ forms a covalent bond with the substrate and creates a microbiostatic antimicrobial coating acting as a material preservative. The coating forms a layer of spikes (self assembling monolayer), each of which carry a positive charge that attracts the negatively charged bacteria. Once attracted, the molecular spikes pierce the cell and rupture its cell membrane, causing the odor causing bacteria, bacteria which cause staining and discoloration, mold, mildew, fungi and algae to die.

BIOPROTECT™ formulations when applied to both porous and non-porous surfaces create an antimicrobial coating, acting as a material preservative, to inhibit the growth of odor causing and stain causing bacteria, mold, mildew, fungi and algae.

BIOPROTECT™ Plastics
For extended antimicrobial protection, incorporating BIOPROTECT™ into your plastic manufacturing process can be simply done by spray or roll coating method and a UV light cure attachment creating a long lasting layer of antimicrobial protection, rendering a BIOPROTECTED™ plastic. BIOPROTECT™’s technology works by modifying the plastic surface with the covalent linkage of the BIOPROTECT™ antimicrobial compounds to the plastic surface which provides long-lasting protection against harmful microorganisms that cause illness and material degradation. Some of the plastics that can be BIOPROTECTED™ include: PET, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, polypropylene, polycarbonate, polylactide, acrylic, acrylonitrile butadiene, styrene, fiberglass, nylon and more.
BIOPROTECT™ Metals
For extended antimicrobial protection, incorporating BIOPROTECT™ into your commercial metal products during the manufacturing process can be simply done by spray coating, dip coating or spin coating, then activated using a high heat cure attachment, to render your metal products as BIOPROTECTED™. BIOPROTECT™’s technology creates a durable, long lasting layer of antimicrobial protection on the surface of your metal products, preventing the growth of microorganisms and product degradation. Some of the metals that can be BIOPROTECTED™ include stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum.
